Continuous pipeline monitoring
DALI uses fiber optics to detect leaks and intrusions, keeping your pipeline infrastructure secure.

Advanced monitoring for real-time leak and intrusion detection in pipelines
Detect leaks and intrusions in pipelines carrying drinking water or other liquids using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and fiber optic technology. With advanced 24/7 monitoring, DALI helps utility companies and industrial facilities reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW) losses, minimize waste, and prevent costly incidents. DALI provides real-time pipeline monitoring with a spatial resolution of 5 meters and supports a wide range of pipeline materials, including concrete, steel, plastic (PE, PP, PVC), GRP, FRP, cast iron and asbestos cement. DALI is designed for fully pressurized, liquid-filled pipelines.
Unlock the power of DALI
Swift installation
DALI is installed seamlessly without interrupting pipeline operations and is designed for easy access to pipelines, including bypassing valves.
24/7 monitoring
Continuous pipeline monitoring with a 2-minute detection update rate, providing operators with up-to-date leak insights around the clock.
High accuracy
DALI detects and localizes leaks with a spatial resolution of 5 meters, helping operators quickly identify where investigation or intervention is needed.
Wide pipeline compatibility
DALI supports a broad range of pipeline materials, including concrete, steel, plastic (PE, PP, PVC), GRP, FRP, cast iron and asbestos cement, for fully pressurized pipeline applications.
Drinking water approved
All DALI components are strictly tested and approved for safe use in drinking water applications.
Improve asset management
DALI helps reduce the risk of major pipe failures while extending the lifespan of aging pipelines, allowing for efficient maintenance planning.

Build your own fiber optic network
DALI requires only one optical fiber for monitoring while enabling other fibers to connect and remotely control network assets such as valves and sensors. This setup supports robust data communication networks, transforming water pipelines into fiber backbones in partnership with telecom operators. With a capacity of up to 144 fibers, DALI ensures secure connections to network infrastructure and opens opportunities for leasing fiber capacity to telecom providers.
From monitoring to actionable insights
DALI leverages advanced fiber optic technology with Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) to detect leaks and intrusions in real-time, enabling cost-effective decision-making.

1. Hassle-free installation
A project-specific fiber optic cable is installed within the pipeline, serving as a continuous array of thousands of acoustic sensors that span the entire lenght of the pipeline.

2. Smart pipeline monitoring
The Distributed Acoustic Sensor (DAS) is connected to one end of the fiber and utilizes a laser to send short pulses of light along the fiber. This process generates a unique pattern of reflections. Environmental vibrations create disturbances that alter this reflection pattern within the pipeline. The Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) device analyzes these modified optical signals to detect potential leaks and intrusions.

3. Real-time monitoring and automatic alerts
DALI processes acoustic data on-site and transforms it into actionable leak insights. Pipeline status can be monitored through a secure web-based application, with real-time leak visualization, historical data and configurable e-mail alerts for leaks and potential leaks.

4. Make smart and informed decisions
The DALI monitoring system offers a long service life and typically costs less than 1% of a complete pipeline replacement. In return, you gain an extended pipeline lifespan, reduced Non-Revenue Water (NRW) losses, and peace of mind regarding your pipeline infrastructure.

The DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensor) that is at the heart of DALI detects any sounds or acoustic vibrations on the cable, from sub-Hz to several kHz (kilohertz). It registers any sound, including leaks, pumps, nearby digging activity, or unauthorized intrusions on the pipe. Advanced AI-based signal processing algorithms then filter out any irrelevant signals and raise an alarm in case of a leak or other important anomaly.
Yes. DALI's installation system supports live installation, allowing the fiber-optic cable to be deployed without interrupting pipeline service. Depressurized installation is also possible.
DALI supports leak-detection sensing distances of up to 20 km from the measurement setup, with supported configurations including 10 km, 20 km, 2 × 10 km and 2 × 20 km.
Yes. The DALI cable contains 12 or even 144 fibers, of which only 1 is needed for the monitoring. The other fibers can be used to create an internal communication network, or even be leased to telecom companies that are developing a fiber backbone.
